All proceeds go to support museum operations and educational programming. The admission for this fun cultural Christmas shopping experience is $10 and goes toward helping the museum reach their $200,000 fundraising goal for this year.
History of the Weihnachtsmarkt
German Christmas markets have been a long-standing tradition with the first records dating back to the Dresden Christmas Market, traditionally known as Striezelmarkt, originating in 1434. Inspired by the traditional open-air Christmas markets of Germany, the New Braunfels Weihnachtsmarkt is a German-style Christmas Market with a Texas Twist. The Weihnachtsmarkt began in 1988 and has become the largest fundraiser for the Sophienburg Museum & Archives. Today the market is host to over 50 unique merchants and artisans.
