Looking for something fun to do with the family close to new homes in San Antonio? The options are nearly endless in and around the charming Hill Country town of Boerne, TX. From its famous Main Street to the surrounding parks and hill country activities and exceptional eateries; it’s easy to see why so many families want to call this delightful area home.  If you’re new to the area or have just begun your search, Sitterle Homes is happy to share seven favorite family-friendly attractions just minutes from Boerne’s first master-planned community, Esperanza.


Agricultural Heritage Museum – Open Saturdays February – November, families that have recently moved into Boerne new homes for sale can spend time learning about the pioneer way of life in the museum, blacksmith shop, woodwork shop, the pioneer house and more.  Be sure to check out their calendar for special events.


The Round Up Beer Garden & Food Park – Featuring a row of the most popular area food trucks, 25 beers on tap, tables, playground and moon bounce obstacle course plus live music every weekend, this outdoor eatery is perfect for families.  And if you happen to be spending a day tubing there is free shuttle service.


Boerne City Lake Park – Just 1 mile northwest of Boerne you’ll find a beautiful park with tons of amenities for the entire family to enjoy, including a fishing pier, kayaking and paddle board rentals, picnic areas, boat dock, volleyball court, 9-hole Frisbee disc golf, trails and more.


Stricker Trail Rides – What better way to enjoy a day in the Texas Hill Country then on horseback.  Stricker Trail Rides offers individual and group rides Monday – Saturday from 1-2 hours.


Art Al Fresco – Boerne’s first annual outdoor art exhibit features sculptures throughout the historic Hill Country Mile and along the city’s trail system. You can also vote for your favorite sculpture and help an artist win the “Boerne’s Choice Award.”


Go Caving at the Cave Without A Name or Cascade Caverns – Both of these natural living caves offer wonderful tours for the whole family allowing you to explore corridors of rock formations.  Cascade Caverns also offers families with children 16 or older exciting adventure tours. Both parks offer camping as well.


Cibolo Nature Center – Dedicated to the preservation of the area and the four ecosystems that make up the nature center, visitors have the opportunity to learn about each, playing in Cibolo Creek, walking the nature trails or the boardwalk through the marsh area, discovering dinosaur tracks and more.  The center is also home to Herff Farm and the Farmers Market at Cibolo.
