Get a Taste of Holiday Tamales


The Tamales! Holiday Festival at Pearl is a must for Mexican food lovers. Over 40 tamale makers will be sharing their most creative and delicious creations that range from traditional meat-filled tamales to sweet dessert Tamales. The event will also include live music and activities for kids. The event is free, but the price for tamale tastings varies per vendor. The following week on December 12th, you can also take part in community tamale making at the annual La Gran Tamalada.

Holiday Arts & Crafts Show Along the Riverwalk


This is the best time to plan a holiday visit to the Riverwalk. Vendors will be set up along the river offering unique Christmas gifts you can’t find in stores. While you’re down on the Riverwalk you can also stroll along the path that’s illuminated by 6,000 luminaries and get serenaded by the Christmas boat carolers.

Winter Wonderland at The DoSeum


The DoSeum is creating special holiday experiences for kids by completely transforming the museum during the Winter Wonderland event. Kids can explore Little Town where they can decorate and enjoy a snowscape (opens on the 12th) that can’t be found anywhere else in San Antonio. In addition to playing in the snow, kids can take part in themed workshops. Check the schedule to see what is happening each day and register for workshops.

Celebrate San Antonio on New Year’s Eve


Ring in the New Year at the largest free event in Texas. The Celebrate San Antonio celebration will include three stages with live music, a variety of food, carnival rides and games. There’s also a huge firework display when the clock strikes midnight. The event is so big, it outranks New Year’s celebrations in L.A., Miami and Austin.

Six Flags Holiday in the Park


It’s Six Flags like you’ve never experienced it before. Millions of lights are strung throughout the entire park and all of the characters are decked out in holiday attire. There are also special seasonal rides, shows and attractions. Santa Claus will be there as well to enjoy Christmas treats with visitors.
