See a Christmas Classic in a New Way
The Christmas classic Home Alone is getting a new twist with the help of the Houston Symphony. They’ll be performing the score live while the movie plays during a one-night only presentation. It’s a fun addition to the kid-friendly comedy. The Houston Symphony will also be performing a free holiday concert on December 10th at The Church Without Walls if you can’t make it to the Home Alone screening.

Celebrate Christmas Like the Settlers
Want to know what Christmas was like for the Texas settlers? Christmas in the Park at George Ranch takes a look back at how the holidays were celebrated from the 1830s to the 1930s. There will be hayrides, campfire stories, tours of a Victorian home decorated for the season, gingerbread cookies and visits from Santa Claus.

First Ever Magical Winter Lights Event
Be there for the first annual Magical Winter Lights event in Houston. This unique holiday light display will be the largest lantern festival in the U.S. Throughout the seven sections huge lanterns are redesigned using inspiration from landmarks around the world.

Be an Astronaut for the Day
It’s your last chance to experience a hands-on exhibit that recreates what astronauts feel and see during spaceflight. The Be the Astronaut exhibition was built by a team of experts to replicate the solar system from outer space. Visitors can hop inside a specially designed spaceship to experience a simulated rocket launch. Give a loved one a pass to the center for a gift they’ll never forget.

Ice Skating at Discovery Green
Once again Discovery Green has been transformed into a glittering pond of ice for the holidays. There’s over 7,700 square feet to skate across in downtown Houston. Kids 3 and up can ice skate, but there is an ice play area for younger children as well. Check the calendar for different theme nights throughout the month, including discount nights on select Monday.
