September 2016 Events Taking Place Near New Homes in San Antonio
Even though summer is waning and it is time to hit the books again for the kids, there is no shortage of fun events and activities taking place this September! Discover what’s happening near your new home in San Antonio this month.
September 2 – 4 – LaborFest San Antonio
A three-day Multicultural Music & Arts Festival, this year’s event will be held at HemisFair Park with a free public event on Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are available for the Saturday and Sunday “Park Explosion” from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m., featuring live music, food, retail and carnival activities. On September 3 the Henry B Gonzalez Convention Center will host a free Health and Career Expo from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., and on September 3 and 4 the “Soul/Funk Explosion” from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.: laborfestsa.com.
September 2 – 4 – Labor Day Artisan River Walk Show
Vendors display and sell beautiful handmade merchandise including pottery, textiles, jewelry, woodwork, paintings and more all along the San Antonio River Walk. This event is free.
September 5 – Échale Festival at Pearl
Échale is a free concert series highlighting Latin American music, arts, and culture that will return to the Pearl brewery on Labor Day 2016 from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.: atpearl.com/happenings/echale.
September 10 – Food Truck Event
Taking place at Freeman Coliseum, the annual Culinaria event now has its own dedicated day with more space, more hours and more food trucks to sample delectable creations by mobile chefs. The event is from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.:culinariasa.org/san-antonio/events/.
September 10 – International Accordion Festival
Attend this one of kind event of diverse musical styles from the new world to the old – all played by accordion. This free event will take place at the historical La Villita theater from 12 p.m. – 10 p.m.: internationalaccordionfestival.org.
September 16 – 18 – The 1916 At Old Brack Golf Tournament
Be part of golf history! Golfers will compete in a tournament commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Brackenridge Park Golf Course—the original home of the Texas Open from 1922-1959.alamocitygolftrail.com/event/the-1916-at-old-brack-golf-tournament/
September 25 – The Battle for the Books 5k Run/Walk
This family friendly event celebrates National Literacy Month with a fun run or walk to show support for students, teachers, and Language Arts education. There will be a Literary Costume Contest for favorite book characters and music and food trucks to enjoy after the race.
September 30 – October 2 – 30th Annual Home and Garden Show
Presented by the Greater San Antonio Builders Association (GSABA), this year marks the 30th anniversary of the Home and Garden Show, which will take place at the Alamodome.
